A Description of our School:

  • Our aim at Mount Desert Nursery School is to provide a high quality, integrated early education and childcare service.
  • We care for children ages 2½ to school age whose families live or work in the towns of Mount Desert, Bar Harbor, Trenton, Southwest Harbor, Tremont and surrounding communities in Hancock County.
  • We provide a rich, developmentally appropriate curriculum in a fun, safe and caring environment.
  • Our program encourages and assists children to increase independence, develop self-confidence, relate respectfully with people and promotes a growing awareness of their world. Independent daily living skills focus on physical coordination and growth, emotional expression and communication, social interactions and group participation.
  • Our daily schedule includes a balance of play and rest, indoor and outdoor time and activities led by teachers and those chosen by children.
